We are a small mixed farm located in the heart of the scenic and undiscovered Murray Harbour region of Down East PEI, just 5 km from Panmure Island Provincial Beach.
We love our animals, and raise curly wool sheep and working border collies, dairy goats and laying ducks, who provide us with food and fiber, while providing high quality compost to feed our ecologically raised 2 1/2 acres of vegetables for the Charlottetown Farmer's Market. We focus on growing heirloom, open pollinated varieties for both seed production, and to help our customers to develop a taste for the richness and unique flavour of these varieties that are grown and adapted to the natural growing conditions of PEI. We are committed to building habitat for our native pollinators, so chemicals inputs of any sort are not used on our farm.
The sweetness of our land is served up every Saturday (and Wednesdays in the summer) at our Local Lunch Taco Stand at the Charlottetown Farmer's Market. For just $5, you can buy a handcrafted taco that is made from our Painted Mountain corn , Agate Pinto Beans, and seasonal greens that are grown in our fields, or in our unheated greenhouse during the cold season.
Open Farm Day is celebrated at Pembroke Farm every Thursday from 9-5 during July and August. Visit our friendly farm animals, catch a sheepdog training demonstration, grind our own cornmeal, see how our goats are milked, learn about wild pollinators and run through our Pollinator Meadow Maze. Tour our Taco Garden, and learn how we grow the Four Sisters (corn, beans, squash and sunflowers) from the same seed that we have been saving for decades. Visit our Market Garden, and see this Saturday's veggies, still in the ground!
Meet our unique curly wool sheep, and purchase some our unique wool for your own projects, of select a one-of-a-kind handcrafted gift for yourself or someone you love at our Farm Shop. Learn about our efforts to grow open pollinated seeds, and see our seed cleaning equipment that is available for use by other Island Seed growers.
There's lots to do and see on Pembroke Farm. Because our Farm is an internet free zone, the quickest way to reach us is to call (902)962-3414 during business hours.
